This is my new Vacation house! If your prissy and want a boring sterile room move along you won't be happy here and I don't want to run into you at breakfast. Ginger at the front desk is like your college RA, she gives good advice and helps figure out what ever drama pops up during your stay. I'm sorry I can't tell you the name of their Handyman, but he's like the thoughtful uncle that buys you a cup for baseball when your single mom is clueless about such things. This is a Gay owned business, which means it's Gay friendly (what business in NOLA isn't) and the Gay's that were staying there while I was there just gushed over the place, if you don't know what that means, the translation is this place ranks very VERY high on charm. I met a couple from Berlin, 2 frat boys from Australia , a pair from Chesapeake bay area, all in the breakfast party patio, during our 4 day stay. They are moderately priced and even have a lay-a-way plan for your reservation. In times like these that's #1 thoughtful, & #2 brilliant. The only reason why I give it 4 1/2, instead of 5 stars, is they serve atrocious coffee at breakfast. But from my experience it's the city water used in the coffee that makes it bad. They should make a better effort on the coffee by using filtered water and serving real half & half. We solved this problem with our own instant Starbucks & cream. It's close to most everything you want to do in NOLA, and being nestled in the Marigny it gives you the feel of really living in NOLA. I highly recommend to any adventurous soul, and I will return again, and again, and again.

Olde Town Inn is a cute, yellow hotel. Lots of character, I'd say. Upon walking in through the narrow doorway, you'll encounter a giant stuffed Kermit playing the piano, a grand Christmas tree, and the NICEST receptionists known to man. The man checked us into our hotel, and informed us that we were instantly upgraded to a suite for FREE. The man at the reception desk was absolutely helpful. Questions about public transportation, taxi cabs, Frenchman St., French Quarters, Acme, cats, etc. Yup, he knew it all. He gave us a map, marked off places for us, and gave us suggestions for places that are must-sees. The suite was charming, with pale green walls, wooden floors, and windows everywhere. The furniture was antique, and the wall adornments were unique. Law diploma of some random man in the bathroom, giant pot in the closet (for gumbo?), etc, etc. I loved the room upon walking in. However, with each day spent at Olde Town, I realized that the place was not the cleanest of hotels. The continental breakfast serves the crappiest coffee I've ever tasted. The biggest negative was the itch/rash I developed on my right arm and back from sleeping in the master bed. Simple irritation probably, and hopefully not bugs. Either way, the cleanliness could be improved here. Bottom line, I would stay here again, definitely. It's conveniently located near Frenchman St, and a mile walk away from the French Quarters. Just be weary of the potentially irritating sheets, and maybe bring some hydrocortisone cream while you're at it!

I would definitely consider staying again my next visit. Liked the location- outside the quarter, but not too far away. Quiet neighborhood, still close to great food and late night bars. Staff was exceptionally attentive. Continental breakfast was great. The building is quite old, so some rooms are a little slanted. Electric heaters were provided. Showers were hot, beds comfortable. Lots of room options for larger groups.

This is our wonderful New Orleans home-away-from-home for life!!! We are in a unique boat as we have 2 large dogs who travel with us. Most French Quarter area hotels only accommodate dogs 25 lb or less, and/or charge big pet fees! There is a little park across the street for "dog business" and the are poopy bags available in the courtyard as you are walking out. Olde Town Inn is a super short cab ride from the French Quarter, it is the cutest place! We stayed in a room that had a smaller room (and bed!) for the dogs and a clawfoot tub! Ginger sent the nicest confirmation email, and when we mentioned that we were True Blood fans, she researched the local area to find a bar where we could watch the season 4 premiere! There is an attached parking lot where you can park for $10 a day, but there isn't really a need as there is abundant street parking at all hours. The neighborhood is ok for walking around with your dogs in, and I even found this: candychang.com/before-i-… nearby and visited it daily. I can't say enough nice things about Olde Town Inn, and I can't wait to return!!!!

Buyer Beware!!!!! I pre paid for two out of four nights for Labor Day weekend 2012. Well the Hurricane hit three days before and my flight was cancelled. I kept calling the Inn to let them know that I couldn't get there and the voice mail was full. Come to find out their power was out. Almost a week later I did finally get a hold of someone and asked for my refund for the two nights and was told that their systems were down. I called three additional times and finally started asking for the Manager- Jason. I have now left him three maybe four messages asking for my refund. I have had to write a letter to my credit card company as the charge is outside of the normal timeframe for requesting a credit. I won't ever stay here again...

If you want to get a real taste of New Orleans, this is the place to stay. The accommodations are very old and has that French Quarter feel to it. The Inn is located walking distance to the French Quarter but is actually in an artsy area close to the lively and musical Frenchman Street. What was also great was that there was plenty of parking available on the street. Parking in the French Quarter can run up to $30 a night. I would recommend getting a room with your own bathroom. We got a shared bathroom and it was ridiculous how long and often we had to wait.

I want to give a shout out to Ginger, who took care of me while I was frantically searching for a place to stay for a group of us. She was gracious, and kind - far more attentive than I would expect you'd get out of a call to a one star establishment. If you're traveling on a budget, I recommend considering the Olde Town Inn. Her southern hospitality and the historic merits of the inn garner 4 stars! I am a fan!

This review is not an easy one to write. Some people will not like this place. On the other hand, the place is kind of cool on its own merits. It kind of like a dysfunctional bread and breakfast joint with many issues but a lot of heart and personality. When they introduced their retarded cat as "this is our retarded cat", I realized this was going to be more than my usual vanilla flavored lodging experience. Let me just say the potential of this hotel being a really nice place to stay is off the chart. But the place needs work, and lots of it. Noise is a problem. We could hear our neighbors upstairs like they we were in the same room. Maybe in a few years I will check it out again, it has a lot of old world charm going for it. The cat best reflects the true nature of this place; beat up, missing parts, a little slow but cute and oddly charming in an ugly sort of way.

Sure, this is not a luxury hotel, but for an inexpensive place within walking distance of the French Quarter and a low key local feel, it works. The staff is super nice and really helped us get around town. Winding down in their funky courtyard was one of our favorite elements of our trip. I can recommend it, but see if you can request room 18, which is really a mini suite, clean, quiet, and at the end of the row by the breakfast area. Some of our fellow guests had a less wonderful experince. :(

For the price we paid we were blown away! Everyone who works there was extremely helpful and sweet, if you stay here I highly recommend asking their advice on tours, restaurants, etc. I left my spare car keys in the room on accident and they contacted me right away and mailed them to me. We only asked for a room with one king bed but got two at no extra cost, and our room was very cozy and clean. The location is in a great area only a short walk from the French Quarter, and parking and getting to it is very easy. If you are taking advantage of their breakfast (which was better than most regular hotels), go early. Plus they are dog friendly! Will definitely be back!

The Family Suite accommodated our group of 7 fabulously. The shower was short and the curtain too long, I also recommend that your large group not all attempt to shower one after the next. Lucked out of a free crawfish broil the Friday night of our Jazzfest weekend stay. Proximity to Frenchman St was clutch. This may be my NoLA go to spot.

We had a suite to ourselves, one queen-size bed for two and a twin size bed that I'm sleeping in. Got the place for Mon-Sat nights, and it came to $230 per person. The room itself was nothing to write home about, except that there were some great antiques (records, framed pictures, dresser). 14" TV with basic cable. Only three viable wall outlets, which became an issue only when we all wanted to charge phones. Staff is insanely friendly, volunteers extremely helpful information about places to go. For us, they made the distinction between "trashy bars" and "hipster-trashy bars" to go to. This was very useful. There's a common area behind the rooms that is open-air and BEAUTIFUL. It is shaded, has patio furniture, a grill, and is filled with antiques, including a pair of footed bathtubs that now hold plants. The coffee is terrible and the breakfast is substandard, if only slightly. But that's really it, there were no other problems with ANY aspect of our stay. Much love.

This is one of the cheapest hotels in NOLA. For that price, expect to stay in a room lacking any sort of thermic isolation: on the 24th of December, we woke up in a very cold room. When we left it to have our breakfast (served outdoor), we didn't really feel a difference. The two electric heaters don't make any noticeable difference. Having a shower is a challenge as the stream is weak and hot water takes ages to arrive. Breakfast is very simple: orange juice, coffee, tea, cereals, cold milk, tasty cinnamon rolls, muffins, bread and a nice waffle machine (on the second morning, the waffle dough dispenser was being cleaned, so no waffle that day). I liked the decoration of the breakfast place. The staff at the reception was friendly and helpful. I still wouldn't recommend this place to a friend.

This is not the hotel to stay in if you're used to new/ refurbished hotels. The room was fairly disappointing. It was old, stained, without one piece of fabric that matched and a sad excuse of decorations. Random pictures, records and antiques were placed around, but obviously found at some estate sale half off. Even our armoire had a broken mirror in it! The room can seem noisy because the door is a glass window and everyone that walks/talks/works makes a lot of noise on the wood porch. But I peeked into other rooms and they had wood floors and were nicer, next time I would just ask for one of those. Having said that the quaint feel of this Inn is nice. It's location is awesome, right next to Frenchmen St. and a quick walk to the quarter. The bed was comfortable and the courtyard was great. While we were never up for it, they serve breakfast on the patio. This place reminds me of all the houses I grew up in here... old and quirky. The price is the best I could find, the staff was friendly and let's face it you're in NOLA and you shouldn't be in your hotel much anyway!! Call and check prices, they jump depending on the weekend... just like at every hotel

Not only do I Love this place but It makes me cry I miss the whole atmosphere of it! The place is close to the fun places in town & has such a cool feel to it so you can just chill and relax in the am or afternoon under a tree in the colorful courtyard in some of the chairs provided. Laundry room is useful & everyone was great. I dont drink coffee but they had hot chocolate so I was happy as a clam! I cannot wait to go again one day....Oh one more hint if you get the coupon book at mcyd's you get a great room cheaper than ever!

Stayed in room 11 in March 2013. Adorable hotel, secure, comfy, within walking distance to Bourbon and Jackson Square. Cool old decor and nice courtyard with breakfast every morning.

I really liked the quaint atmosphere of the Olde Town Inn. It's no five star resort, but unique and clean with very pleasant staff. Definately more interesting/unique than a boring ol motel 6, and walking distance to canal street.

Great place to stay at an extremely affordable rate right outside the French quarters. The owners are awesome, extremely friendly and helpful in terms of suggestions on where to visit and dine. I would definitely book in the future if I ever get an opportunity to visit New Orleans again!!

This place has a lot of character. There is no central heat (each room has a space heater), often not much of a bathroom door, and you can definitely hear your neighbors at night. If you are expecting a private hotel experience, this is not your place. But if you want an honest taste of the Marigny neighborhood in New Orleans, you cannot beat this place. The location is awesome, the rooms are great for groups (one "room" has three actual rooms and five beds), the management is helpful and friendly, and your fellow guests are often characters to write home about. This is my favorite spot to stay in New Orleans, but you need to appreciate the quirk.
